Components are defined as either mechanical or electrical devices, which in groups constitute a system. Radiation stability of the components was determined in terms of the hours that the comoponents could be exposed to radiation levels of 2 x 10/sup 6/ 2 x 10/ sup 5/ and 2 x 10/sup 4/ rep per hour where the radiation was composed of about 1O rep of gamma to 1 rep of fast neutrons. In this report the assumption is made that the lifetime of a material is limited to a 25 percent change in any one of its physical properties. Since, in general, metals and ceramic materials will undergo vcry few changes after exposures of thousands of hours in the radiation levels considered, attention has been directed primarily to components that contain organic materials, The results of the study are presented in four sections. The first consists of a discussion of factors influencing radiation damage that are applicable to all types of components. Next, individual sections are devoted to hydraulic and pneurnatic, electrical, and electronic components. Each section contains a brief discussion of the problems of the particularmore » type of comoponent, followed by tables of estimated lifetimes.
