- W49382184 abstract "Postulated in 1963 and confirmed by feeding experiments, betacyans should be built up from and can be dissected in two molecules of tyrosine derived DOPA. However, this two precursors were incorporated in different quantities in the two moieties. Therefore the authors tried to verify this hypothesis in the betacyanin forming callus of P. grandiflora by feeding L-tyrosine-U-/sup 14/C (LL, 12h, 25/sup 0/C). The spec. incorporation in betacyanin is raised (+42%) by ..cap alpha..-methyl-DOPA (10/sup -5/M), an DOPA decarboxylase inhibitor and the incorporation in DOPA (+100%) by the tyrosine decarboxylase inhibitor hydroxylamine (10/sup -5/M), reducing (-12%) the incorporation in betacyanin(1). In long time experiments (14d, LD 14:10, 25/sup 0/C) hydroxylamine (10/sup -7/-10/sup -4/M) triggers betacyanin (+199-242%) and DOPA (+134-199%) accumulation. Therefore they postulate the formation of an hydroxylamine induced nonradioactive precursor, different from L-DOPA." @default.
