- W50535564 abstract "504 Objectives: Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) constitutes approximately 8% of all NHLS and is associated with a poor prognosis (45% survival at 3 years and 20% at 5 years). However a small number of pts seem to follow an indolent course. There is no biological, histological or imaging marker to identify this subset. While FDG PET study has had overall excellent results in evaluating pts with NHL there is scarce data about its performance in MCL only. Our objective was to assess the diagnostic and prognostic value of FDG PET in this pt population. Methods: We retrospectively studied all pts with biopsy- proven MCL who underwent a staging PET or PET/CT study between 2003 and 2006.The SUV max of the focus with the highest uptake in every pt was recorded. Data about recurrence free disease and survival were obtained in all. Recurrence free survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and groups were compared using the Wilcoxon test for equality of survivor functions. Pts who underwent stem cell transplantation were excluded. Results: Twenty four pts (24) fulfilled the eligibility criteria. The PET study was positive in 22/24 (Sens: 92%). It upstaged and downstaged the disease in 9/24 (37%) and 2/24 pts (8%) respectively as compared to CT scan, altering the management in 6 pts (25%). The distribution of the SUV max appeared bimodal with 18 pts having a SUV max > 5.7(mean 9.9±1.8, Group I) and 6/24" @default.
