Most of the photoionization intensity in the threshold region derives from autoionization of interlopers of low-n Rydberg states which derive from excited ionic cores ${A}^{2}$${ensuremath{Pi}}_{u}$ and B $^{2}ensuremath{Sigma}_{u}^{+}$. Band simulations of the np series and a proposed assignment for the interlopers are presented. Photoionization from other metastable species of ${mathrm{N}}_{2}$ is observed as well." @default.
