- W51208145 abstract "In a series of presentations at several centers in Europe in the spring of 1988 and at the meeting of the Eastern Association of Electroencephalographers in New York in December of 1989 (Barlow, 1989>), a new hypothesis for the EEG was advanced. In essence, it was suggested that a given EEG signal (channel) could be considered as though its individual waves had been modulated independently with respect to their extrema or peaks (hereafter: amplitude) and their slopes. According to the particular configuration of the two modulations, a variety of EEG patterns would result. Simulations of these patterns were accomplished by means of an analog electronic embodiment of the hypothesis, which was termed the “extrema-slopes” hypothesis of the EEG." @default.
