- W561430035 abstract "Based on the observations that tyre wear has many economic and ecological implications and that tyre wear and road polishing are strongly related, in April 2000 was started the three-year 5th framework EU project TROWS (Tyre and ROad Wear and Slip assessment). The results include tools to analyse tyre wear and road polishing. These are combined in a suitable wear prediction environment. Each road type and each basic manoeuvre have different effects in terms of tyre wear. This is represented by the determination of an aggressivity index, related to the work done, in all different road conditions, by slip forces on the tyre-pavement contact area. To unify the different steps of the procedure the tool MALEV, Mass Loss Evaluator, has been fixed up. This tool allows to compare different road sections in terms of tyre mass loss or to evaluate the amount of rubber powder introduced in the environment each year by the traffic flowing in the different road sections. This tool could be used to analyse both existing and projected road sections to evaluate the environment impact of the infrastructure." @default.
