Wind deflectors and fairings for cab mounting, gap sealers between tractor and trailer, and air vanes and corner-rounding drag-reducing devices for trailers are described and pictured. Reducing rolling resistance by using radial tires, and decreasing hp demand by installing a fan clutch are examined. The fuel lost due to unnecessary idling is mentioned, with options such as automatic idlers and mobile generators suggested as solutions. Charts show examples of proven fuel efficiency combinations, a synopsis of user experience with aerodynamic attachments (retrofit), and fuel consumption of various types of fan drives. A graph compares the rolling resistance/percent of maximum loading of new and worn bias and radial tires.
