- W56669729 abstract "AbstractIn this article I show that a new figuration of science, politics and the market emerges in some fields of neoliberal governance. This new figuration appears most distinctively in the global South, particularly in the context of biomedicine-related technologies of governance. On the one hand, I follow the much debated and widely accepted Foucauldian approach known as ,therapeutic domination‘, on the other, hand I will try to disprove one of its basic assumptions about the origins and functions of the state of emergency. The debate on therapeutic domination centers on the related but disputed concept of experimentality or experimentalization. Increasingly political decisions about the chosen technologies of governance are legitimized by reference to scientific knowledge while the latter increasingly points to its temporary validity and fundamental indeterminacy. Does this seemingly insolvable paradox turn the deployment of scientifically legitimized technologies of governance into a form of experimentation?" @default.
