- W567930283 abstract "This study is focused on creating a deeper understanding for how physical education teachers educate, assess and grade students for outdoor living “friluftsliv” within high schools’ physical education program. The individual teacher’s definition of the concept outdoor living “friluftsliv” and how teachers in schools today define outdoor living within the physical education curriculum is also presented.The underlying method for the study is qualitative. The research was performed through interviews with physical education teachers at six different schools in neighboring districts.The results show that there is ambiguity in the curriculum creating significant opportunities for interpretation by the individual teacher. This result, however, is considered positive by the majority of teachers, as it allows them to dictate a large portion of the curriculum content. The results also show that almost all teachers feel there are significant differences in the content of the education and, as a consequence, evaluation and grading can lead to unfair grades.The study also shows that all teachers stress the importance of maintaining the culture and tradition of outdoor living that Sweden has." @default.
