- W57031072 abstract "Among the traditional problems in Epistemology, one of the most persistent controversies is the question of value insertion versus value exemption in science. Two currents defend opposite positions in this debate: according to the traditional vision, science is identified with an objective and neutral knowledge of the world. The second perspective, otherwise, recognizes a link between the scientific knowledge of something and the control (or domination) over what became known. The philosopher Hugh Lacey, in consonance with this second tradition, advances a sharp examination of the foundations of science and its interaction with society, questioning the traditional notions of scientific neutrality and objectivity. In this essay we intend to explore the aspects of Lacey’s criticism related to the social sciences -- specifically to Economics. In the light of his proposals, some recent criticisms to the historical development of this discipline should be reviewed and supported." @default.
