- W573345880 abstract "This study has set out to compare three male and three female travellers and their travelogues written about Sweden during the first half of the 19th century to find similarities and differences in their delineation. This area of research was chosen to fill a gap in the understanding of travellers view upon Sweden. The method used for this study is based upon a comparative analysis with a phenomenological approach, together with theories such as separated spheres, gender systems, gender contracts and one regarding character concepts within civil virility. My research has resulted in conclusions based upon a major difference in how male travellers perceive industrial, economical and societal structures and growth compared to those written by the females. To compare them a comparative connection towards the industrial revolution and the romantic era has been made. The dissimilarity between these two genders is small, yet no distinct line may be drawn between them both. Regarding their interpretation upon the natives of Sweden, both sexes tend to be positive and negative in their delineation, it is more of a personal perspective than a gender based view that is presented in these travelogues." @default.
