- W573461114 abstract "ABSTRACT The discussion that follows is on the use ofStanislavskian text-based theatrical performance tomodel an interactive design for whole body interaction. The focus is on the processes by which actors anddirectors create repeatable, gestural paradigms forexpressive performance in theatre. Three key phases -text, rehearsal and performance - as guided by directorialinterpretation, are refigured into a game format. Thedesign application and evaluation is demonstrated in theinteractive gestural film game To be or not to be (see http://www.Betaspace.Net.Au/Content/View/36/)Critical to the success of the model is a workabledefinition of gesture evolved from yogic exercise, atechnique used by Grotowski to prepare actors forperformance. Information interfaces and presentation INTRODUCTION Whole body human-computer interaction brings thegestures of the human body to the forefront of interactiondesign [1, 2] and can be defined as a non-integratedcollection of physical behaviour by users [3]. Interpersonalcommunication, where gestures feature as acommunicative medium – otherwise known as bodylanguage - is complex and does not easily adapt itself todesign processes and outcomes [4]. As such, a method bywhich to simplify the nature of gestural actions for thepurpose of human-computer interaction design is essentialto create effective experiences from both a human andtechnological perspective. The approach adopted here is touse the process of paradigmatic gesture formation in text-based Stanislavksian [5] theatre, defined as" @default.
