- W577884402 abstract "The purpose of the stydy was to determine the effects of three different forms of attention for motor perforance and learning in a novel task. From prior research possible support could be lend to each of the strategies tested. These were controlled processing, registrating and nonawareness. An uninstructed control group was also included. Each group consisted of ten subjects (age M=24.4). An experimenter blind experimental design which included retention, transfer and a pressured situation was used for a novel ball throwing task, accuracy of throw and consistency in movement and timing were used as measures of skill. The results indicated that the controlled form of processing is the most effective strategy for performance and learning compared with the other experimental groups. It was also the strategy which the uninstructed subjects seemed to apply. It was also suggested that different underlying processing of control is in charge of movement and timing. For application of these results it is recommended not to strive for early automatization in sport acquisition." @default.
