Validation of the fatigue prediction model has been made by comparison with stress intensity factor solutions in tubular connections and by comparison with observed crack growth in large scale test joints. The results suggest that although there is a reduction in mean fatigue life due to increasing the wall thickness of joints, this does not need to be applied as a penalty to the current UK Department of Energy design curves." @default.
