- W584941298 abstract "Because of limited public funds for infrastructure improvement, the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, has always recognized that private sector investment is necessary to implement an upgraded people mover system. It is envisaged that the city will own the land and that a contract will be entered into structured under an agreement suitable to the parties involved. The Niagara Falls People Mover has garnered significant attention from various manufacturers who have all expressed the opinion that Niagara Falls is a location where a high-tech people mover will be a showpiece for the selected technology. The City of Niagara Falls recognizes that a transit facility is required to transport large numbers of visitors within a relatively concentrated area, but it is essential that the beauty of Niagara Falls, and the park that surrounds it, is maintained. Therefore, design criteria have been proposed that will emphasize aesthetics, system capacity, and flexibility while not limiting the wide range of automated people mover technologies that could serve the needs of the community. With a competitive bid process, it is expected that a people mover technology will be implemented that will meet visitors' transportation needs at a fare that will encourage riders to use the system on future visits to Niagara Falls." @default.
