• W595866740 abstract "In this papers the authors are concerned with a production planning problem in Telecom area. The production line consists of several equivalent working units. Technological cycle for each product consists of disjoint subsets of elementary operations. Due to the topology and the logistics of the production line adjacent working units can be grouped together in order to obtain pipeline stations. The above choice is justified by supposing productivity increase. Each week incoming orders for a subset of products must be processed. Control parameters of the production line are the following: pipeline station configuration and assignment of products to pipeline stations. In order to improve the process efficiency the goal is either to minimize the time for a given production plan or to maximize the number of unused units. For a fixed configuration, the problem can be described by mean of a GAP formulation. Furthermore application specific constraints describing significative production planning aspects are introduced in the original formulation. This formulation allows to obtain an efficient and precise heuristic algorithm for solving the original production planning. Exploiting the above algorithm features we can solve the assignment problem considering all possible pipeline station configurations. For each objective function the optimization problem is solved. The otherobjective function is assumed for solving a multiple level optimization problem. A case study including problem description, formulation and results is reported." @default.
