Durch redaktionsgeschichtliche Analysen wird herausgearbeitet, dass die Streitgesprache als innerjudische Auseinandersetzungen verstandlich sind. Ein zweiter Teil weist mittels formkritischer Untersuchungen nach, dass die Streitgesprache sowohl mit den Chreia als auch mit den Agones der hellenistisch-antiken Literatur verwandt sind.Als These und Fazit ergibt sich, dass die Streitgesprache des Matthaus-Evangeliums durch die fortgesetzte Mission der Gemeinde in Israel motiviert sind.
