- W601503005 abstract "The concept of the capacity of a transportation network is defined as the maximum traffic demand could be loaded on it. This problem is usually modeled as a mathematic programming with equilibrium constraint (MPEC) with a bi-level framework. Due to its complexity, classical optimizing approaches cannot be utilized, especially in the large-scale networks. This paper presents a modified sensitivity analysis based (SAB) heuristic procedure which is capable to solve the capacity problem in real-size networks in an acceptable time. Several steps of the algorithm are improved: (1) the high-efficiency origin-based (OB) algorithm is adopted to find a precise solution to the lower-level combined distribution and assignment model; (2) the sensitivity analysis expressions are simplified on the calculation of the Jacobian matrix inversion; (3) the step length of the solution update is restrained by a determined upper limit to guarantee the convergence of the heuristic search. Convergence proof of the improved SAB method is provided along with numerical experiments in a detailed network to demonstrate the effect of the step-length restraint strategy embedded in the SAB algorithm." @default.
