FOR SECTIONS WITH A RELATIVELY HIGH ACCIDENT RATE UNDER WET CONDITIONS, IT IS POSSIBLE, BY MEANS OF SUITABLE TRAFFIC CONTROL OR CONSTRUCTIONAL MEASURES, TO REDUCE THE EXCESS NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS UNDER WET CONDITIONS. (2) COMPARISON OF THE SKID RESISTANCE OF GUSSASPHALT VARIANTS: THE VARIANTS (WEARING COURSES ON FEDERAL MOTORWAYS) ARE DIFFERENTIATED IN CHIPPINGS CONTENT OF THE MINERAL MASS AND IN THE MANNER OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE SURFACE. IN THE CASE OF CONSTRUCTION WITHOUT ROLLING OF THE CHIPPINGS, A LOW POINT OF SKID RESISTANCE WAS OBSERVED AFTER SOME MONTHS TRAFFIC ON THE TRAFFIC LANES. (3) SKID RESISTANCE OF NEW MASTIC ASPHALT WEARING COURSES INCLUDING SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION METHODS: THE FOLLOWING WERE STUDIED (1 TO 40 DAYS FOLLOWING LAYING) - WEARING COURSES OF MASTIC ASPHALT, WEARING COURSES WITH ROUGH PRE-COATED CHIPPINGS AND SIMILAR WITH GAP GRADED AGGREGATE AND MODIFIED BINDERS. IN THE CASE OF EVERY SECOND WEARING COURSE, THE INITIAL SKID RESISTANCE POSED A PROBLEM. (4) SKID RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS ON EXPERIMENTAL ROADS: RESULTS FROM FOUR EXPERIMENTAL ROADS ARE PRESENTED TOGETHER. (5) THE LIMITS OF RELIABILITY FOR COMPARISON BETWEEN THE PENDULUM APPARATUS/BLOCKED WHEEL: ON THE BASIS OF RESULTS FROM COMPARATIVE MEASUREMENTS, THE POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITS ARE STUDIED TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO FORECAST THE RESULTS WHICH MIGHT BE EXPECTED FROM THE BLOCKED WHEELS ON THE BASIS OF RESULTS FROM THE PENDULUM DEVICE. (6) FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MEASURING EQUIPMENT: A NEW TRAIN VEHICLE FOR SKID RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS WITH THE STUTTGART FRICTION METER IS DESCRIBED.
