- W606615150 abstract "One of the most important technologies for vehicular navigation systems is development of a high level of location accuracy. We are improving the degree of location accuracy by using a wheel sensor, gas-rate gyro, map matching technique, and beacon information to reduce accumulated errors. Our demonstration model showed good location accuracy results in a field test conducted over three courses in April, 1988 (one was in a urban area, 10km in length, and the others were in a suburban area, 30 to 50 km). These courses were chosen from among the ten courses designated in the RACS (Road/Automobile Communication System) project. For practical usage, however, map-matching techniques need more improvement and better evaluation for differing driving conditions. Conventional map data are not accurate enough, and there is a wide variety of road conditions. We have been working to develop a new simulation system to optimize map-matching techniques with a higher degree of efficiency and without so many actual driving tests. This paper describes the experimental results of our model demonstration and concepts of the simulation system." @default.
