- W608646302 abstract "The German Federal Railway Authority built two new railroad lines with a total length of 427 km in the years 1980 to 1991. These lines are designed for speeds of 250 km/h, which is the envisaged speed for the future, also on other lines. The topography is hilly and the new alignment is rather straight. Therefore about 10% of the new lines are on bridges and 30% in tunnels. Six special bridges with spans longer than 75 m had to be designed and built, and these are briefly described. Most of these viaducts were built according to the design general (Rahmenplanung) using simple supported box girders with either 44m or 58m distance between piers and a girder depth of 4.0m or 5.3m respectively. Brief details are provided about the Rombach viaduct, the viaducts over the River Main near Gemuenden, Veitshoechheim, and Nantenbach, the Waelsebach viaduct, and the viaduct over the River Werra near Hedemuenden.
