- W613679795 abstract "Turbocharged diesel engines prevail in the European and American markets as well as the japanese market. Many problems due to higher brake mean pressure have not been solved especially in the field of reliability and durability. Torsional vibration is one of the remaining problems and, at low temperatures in particular, the dynamic behaviour of crankshaft and torsional damper has been unexplored. Furthermore, combustion pressure, which is the force causing torsional vibration, has not been studied in detail. Therefore, this paper deals with experimental studies which were conducted in a special cold test cell using a turbocharged diesel engine for automotive use installed with a rubber damper. It has been found that torsional vibration of the crankshaft increases at low temperatures. However the distortion of the damper rubber is nearly zero. This is because the stiffness of the damper rubber becomes higher due to low temperature. Experimental work has shown that the stiffness of the damper rubber at low temperatures is forty times that at normal temperatures (a)." @default.
