Abstrac: The dynamic behavior of vehicles is characterized by the different vibration modes in which the masses of the vehicles can vibrate, including both linear and angular displacements. Angular vibration of the masses of the vehicles include their oscillation around longitudinal, lateral and vertical axes. Under certain specific circumstances, wind ghosts represent another source of lateral oscillation. Internal perturbations derive from the vibration of the different truck's components, including drive train, tires and the cargo itself. In this paper a study is presented of the causality for the lateral oscillation of vehicle, throughout theoretical and experimental approaches. Theoretical approaches consider the effect of pavement roughness on the spectral content of vehicle lateral oscillation, using a numerical simulation program named yawroll. It is also presented an analysis of the lateral acceleration perturbation, derived from road geometry, establishing a methodology to evaluate the effect of road geometry on the lateral stability of heavy vehicle. The experimental analysis consists of a full scale model, considering field measurements of vehicle response during slalom maneuvers and normal road driving. Results from the theoretical analysis reveal different ranges of magnitude for the excitation frequencies linked for the maneuvers and road inputs." @default.
