- W620715280 abstract "In this paper, traffic-induced vibration analysis of girder bridges (including a very short-span bridge) is carried out to investigate the effects of vehicle models and initial conditions of vehicles on dynamic responses of short-span bridges. Girder bridges are idealized as a plane beam system. The simultaneous differential equations for coupling vibration of bending of the bridge and the moving vehicle are derived by means of modal analysis. Newmark's beta-method is applied to solve the derived equations governing the coupling vibrations. It is observed that effects of the vehicle's initial condition on dynamic response of the very short-span bridge is greater than that of short or medium-span bridges. An interesting result obtained is that the vehicle model with 5-DOFs considering unsprung mass provides a conservative result for the very short-span bridge, while that with 2-DOFs, which neglects the unsprung mass, gives a conservative result for short and medium-span bridges." @default.
