- W628164769 abstract "The aim of the research project Technical measures in order to prevent noise-intensive operational conditions for passenger-cars and motorcycles by order of the Federal Environmental Agency was to design and build a technical regulator able to avoid unnecessary motor revolutions and in consequence noise emission, exhaust gas and fuel consumption for urban traffic. This technical regulator was tested with a normal passenger car as well as with a motorcycle (750ccm). To enable sharing the normal urban traffic flow with its different conditions, the microcomputer-steered regulator adjusts possible maximum revolution as needed and allows normal driving when staying below this maximum revolution limit. This includes that proper driving is maintained for slopes as well as for towed load conditions. If the driver reaches the adjusted maximum, the accelerator gas is withdrawn until he changes to the next higher gear. When tested in urban traffic the regulator, compared with high revolution driving, actually reduced revolution peaks to half of the usual accounts during start-up and acceleration procedures for both passenger-car and motorcycle. This is equivalent to lowering admissible noise of the driving unit from 10 to 15 dB(A). The regulator was completed with an infrared receiver providing external control through local transmitter when entering or leaving noise-sensitive regions." @default.
