Comparing marginal sealing with conventional composite resin and silorane resin in class II cavities Abstract Objective: to compare the marginal sealing of different posterior composite resins according to the gingival and oclusal microleakage in class II restorations. Material and Methods: two class II cavities were prepared on twenty extracted human molars, obtaining forty boxes in total which were randomly assigned to each of four groups as follows: G1: rok (SDI); G2: Filtek™ P90 (3M ESPE); G3: rok (SDI) and Vitremer™ (3M ESPE) (open sandwich) y G4: Filtek™ P90 (3M ESPE) and Vitremer™ (3M ESPE) (open sandwich). The cavities were restored and sealed with nails polish at a milimeter of gingival and occlusal margins and immersed for 24 hours in 2% Methylene Blue dye. The teeth were sectioned in a mesio-distal direction, to obtain photographic images at a 18X zoom. The microleakage at the gingival and occlusal margin was quantified in milimeters. Results : The gingival microleakage average obtained was: 2,6340 mm (G1), 0,0170 mm (G2), 0,2950 mm (G3), and 0,2390 mm (G4); the in occlusal one was: 0,6590 mm (G1), 0,0070 mm (G2), 0 mm (G3), and 0 mm (G4). The microleakage subgroups showed statistically significant differences for gingival: G1 > G3 = G4 = G2 (p=0.00) and occlusal: G1 > G2 = G3 = G4 (p=0.019). Conclusion: Filtek™ P90 showed the lowest microleakage levels in gingival when compared to the others materials. The association of Filtek™ P90, or rok with Vitremer™, reduce completely the occlusal microleakage." @default.
