- W631034721 abstract "Strengthening the resilience of the rail transport mode with respect to the external environment as well as its effectiveness is a major issue. For this purpose, developing an intelligent rail infrastructure is recommended by many railway advisory groups. This development requires the deployment of a network of sensing devices distributed along this critical infrastructure. However, considering that the railway network of European priority corridors covers tens of thousands of kilometers, delivering electrical power to these low consumption devices sets a difficult problem. Indeed, there are no mains available along the railway lines to supply this equipment. This article proposes a preliminary feasibility study of the development of an independent “green” power generator, operating along electrified railway infrastructures with no apparent energy consumption. This electrical generator uses the stray radiation from the catenary and rail return traction currents together to convert the locally induced energy at low frequency into DC electrical energy that can be stored for powering this sensing equipment." @default.
