The aspects being compared are charactersand characterization, setting, plot, point of view, and theme.The study belongs to a qualitative study. In this method, the researcher uses twodata sources namely primary and secondary data. The primary data source and objectsof study are the novel and the movie The Godfather itself, meanwhile the secondary isany reference related the study. The technique of data analysis in this study isdescriptive to make an interpretation of the text and content analysis using deductiveand inductive method.The result of the study shows that the writer can conclude there are manysimilarities and differences between the novel and the movie version. The researcheruse comparative analysis in this research to expose the similarities and differences ofThe Godfather the novel and the movie version. The researcher assumes andconcludes that similarities of both versions lie on its basic important characters, suchas Don Corleone, Sonny Corleone, Michael Corleone, Tom Hagen, who are stillsupported by some participants. The characters mostly still have some of their basiccharacterization although the director adds and omits some characters in the movieversion of The Godfather.The movie and the novel also have similarities. Both versions use traditional plotfor the story line. In the theme both of them want to share about the family gangsterinteraction survival is a matter of interaction. The similarities and the differences lieon each element, for instance: Characters and characterization, setting, plot and theme.In the movie version the director makes some adjustment from the novel version.Meanwhile for the setting of time both versions have the same time. The directormakes a little change in the story plot, but it does not change the basic story line. Inthe novel version, the author uses omniscient point of view, whereas the film usesthird person narrator, not omniscient point of view." @default.
