- W636706028 abstract "This chapter elaborates the electrochemically polymerized tryptophan as an electrode modifier. Polytryptophan films were formed on gold disk electrodes either from 0.1 M NaOH or from 0.1 M H 2 SO 4 containing 100 mM tryptophan and different biological buffers, BES, MOPS, Pipes, MES and Tris. Polytryptophan films formed from the acidic solutions are designated as PT(H 2 SO 4 ), and the films formed from the alkaline solutions are designated as PT(NaOH). Visible films formed at around 1500 mV (versus SCE) potential but a constant potential was not applied continuously. The potential was scanned from 0–1500-0 mV (versus SCE) at a rate of 20 mV/s for 1 h (20–30 scans). Films formed this way adhered better to the electrode. Alight greenish polymer film could be seen on the electrode at this stage. This was washed thoroughly with distilled water followed by a final rinse with the supporting electrolyte. The electrochemical characteristics of the film have been studied both by cyclic voltammetry and by impedance studies." @default.
