- W638866374 abstract "The sheep industry has become increasingly significant in Brazil and in the world due to ease of feeding, sanitary control and consumption alternative to beef. Therefore, numerous researches have been developed aiming at improving the production, with animals being weaned earlier and earlier without any prejudice to its development. Thus, the present study compared birth weight, weight gain and weaning weight of lambs weaned at St. Agnes 45 and 60 days to evaluate what the effect of early weaning on the development of these animals. The birth weight of the two groups showed no statistical difference, with an average weight of females 3.3 kg and 3.7 kg for males. For weaning weight was not observed significant difference between weaning at 45 or 60 days of age . The average weight gain until weaning of males was 0.16 kg / day and females 0.12 kg / day, there was no significant difference between the weaning age and sex. In average daily weight gain from weaning to slaughter was not observed significant effect of weaning age on the performance of lambs, but there was a difference of 90 g / day more in males compared to females. Thus, under the conditions of this experiment, there was no statistical difference in the development of Santa Ines lambs weaned at 45 and 60 days." @default.
