Existing techniques are used wherever possible but resin compositions are considered as materials in their own right rather than a hybrid. To date, some 10 methods have been completed; the author outlines each, giving the reasons for their choice. The method of preparation is important and specimen size has a bearing on tests for compressive strength and flexural strength. Slant shear strength is a new method to test the adhesive strength of a resin composition to concrete. A simple pycnometer method is included for measuring the density. Other methods outlined include those for the modulus of elasticity in compression, tensile strength, chemical resistance, peak exotherm and heat distortion temperature. Methods under development mentioned include those for determining pot life and thermal expanse; the applicability of the composite ASTM C883 approach is examined.
