It should be emphasized that this area of investigation is in its infancy, and therefore the pathophysiological and clinical relevance of these observations is, to some extent, speculative. However, a certain degree of awareness is necessary to stimulate further studies in this promising field of research. © 1987 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByRahnama'i M, van Koeveringe G, Essers P, de Wachter S, de Vente J, van Kerrebroeck P and Gillespie J (2018) Prostaglandin Receptor EP1 and EP2 Site in Guinea Pig Bladder Urothelium and Lamina PropriaJournal of Urology, VOL. 183, NO. 3, (1241-1247), Online publication date: 1-Mar-2010.Kim J, Park E, Seo S, Park Y and Hwang T (2018) Nerve Growth Factor and Prostaglandins in the Urine of Female Patients With Overactive BladderJournal of Urology, VOL. 175, NO. 5, (1773-1776), Online publication date: 1-May-2006.Wheeler M, Hausladen D, Yoon J and Weiss R (2018) Prostaglandin E2 Production and Cyclooxygenase-2 Induction in Human Urinary Tract Infections and Bladder CancerJournal of Urology, VOL. 168, NO. 4 Part 1, (1568-1573), Online publication date: 1-Oct-2002.MUMTAZ F, SULLIVAN M, THOMPSON C, DASHWOOD M, NASEEM K, BRUCKDORFER K, MIKHAILIDIS D and MORGAN R (2018) ALTERATIONS IN THE NITRIC OXIDE SYNTHASE BINDING SITES AND NON-ADRENERGIC, NON-CHOLINERGIC MEDIATED SMOOTH MUSCLE RELAXATION IN THE DIABETIC RABBIT BLADDER OUTLET: POSSIBLE RELEVANCE TO THE PATHOGENESIS OF DIABETIC CYSTOPATHYJournal of Urology, VOL. 162, NO. 2, (558-566), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1999.Sullivan M, Dashwood M, Thompson C, Muddle J, Mikhailidis D and Morgan R (2018) ALTERATIONS IN ENDOTHELIN B RECEPTOR SITES IN CAVERNOSAL TISSUE OF DIABETIC RABBITS: POTENTIAL RELEVANCE TO THE PATHOGENESIS OF ERECTILE DYSFUNCTIONJournal of Urology, VOL. 158, NO. 5, (1966-1972), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1997.Saban R, Undem B, Keith I, Saban M, Tengowski M, Graziano F and Bjorling D (2018) Differential Release of Prostaglandins and Leukotrienes by Sensitized Guinea Pig Urinary Bladder Layers Upon Antigen ChallengeJournal of Urology, VOL. 152, NO. 2 Part 1, (544-549), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1994.Levine L and Jarrard D (2018) Treatment of Cyclophosphamide-Induced Hemorrhagic Cystitis with Intravesical Carboprost TromethamineJournal of Urology, VOL. 149, NO. 4, (719-723), Online publication date: 1-Apr-1993.Holmäng S, Grenabo L, Hedelin H, Wang Y and Pettersson S (2018) Influence of Indomethacin on the Adherence of urease-Induced Crystals to Rat Bladder EpitheliumJournal of Urology, VOL. 145, NO. 1, (176-178), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1991.
