- W64868520 abstract "This paper examines the role that conflict management styles play in the relationship between interpersonal conflict and workplace bullying. We propose that exposure to negative acts depends on how interpersonal conflict is managed. In that sense, a survey study among 707 employees from different organizations in Spain was conducted. Results suggest that interpersonal conflict and workplace bullying are related but also independent phenomena. Findings indicated that an escalation conflict process from task-related conflict to relationship conflict may explain bullying situations to some extent. In that sense, relationship conflict mediates the relationship between task conflict and workplace bullying Moreover, trying to solve the problem seems to partially mediate the positive relationship between interpersonal conflict and workplace bullying, thus, a higher use of problem solving is related to less exposure to negative acts at work. In addition, yielding to another person’s interest may foster the conflict-bullying relationship. Taking together these results, some insight to understand and prevent workplace bullying from a conflict perspective is provided. Therefore, theoretical and practical implications are discussed in the light of the results." @default.
