- W656437897 abstract "Alcohol affected pedestrians have been recognised as a significant issue in road safety in Australia over the last fifteen years ago, starting with a major investigation of pedestrian safety in Victoria (Struik and Rogerson, 1988a,b ). Over the years, a number of initiatives have been taken to address the problem, but in general these have been confined to individual local government areas, and there has been little coordination across jurisdictions. This paper reports progress to date with an Austroads study with the aims of: documenting research and current understanding of the issues, documenting current practice, and identifying good practice in relation to reducing road trauma involving intoxicated pedestrians. This report is very much about work in progress, so results presented here should be regarded as tentative and treated with appropriate caution.
