- W658832162 abstract "This paper describes investigations into the modeling of cracks in asphalt pavements. For this purpose laboratory tests on cracked asphalt beams have been performed. After simulation of the tests, it became clear that cracks in asphalt pavements can be modeled as zones with a reduced stiffness when compared with that of the old surface layer. The effect of cracking on surface deflections has been examined also. This is important, because deflection measurements are used to determine the remaining life of a pavement structure.
