- W67746847 abstract "To monitor the performance of solar domestic hot water systems (SDHWS), a cafeteria and exercise facility in Ottawa was equipped with a solar heating system to assist the existing conventional DHW system. The water consumption, storage tank temperature and solar energy collected were measured and recorded once a day during the study period (July 1982-June 1983). This paper analyzes the data collected and compares it with the original design prediction. The simulated performance used a 1970 hourly weather database. Results showed that the design simulation was higher than the measured solar energy contribution by 40%. Half the discrepancy between measured and predicted energy could be explained as: - Error of the energy measuring instruments. - Overestimation due to the difference between the actual radiation intensity and the 1970 database. After taking into consideration the effect of these factors, the apparent discrepancy is reduced and good correlation is observed between measured and predicted energy. It can be concluded that the simulation predicted the system performance with a confidence level between 19% and 29%." @default.
