Este articulo esta enfocado a evaluar el nivel de alineamiento estrategico Negocio TI de una muestra de PYMEs pertenecientes al cluster minero de la region de Antofagasta, Chile y evaluar la relacion entre la productividad de las PYMEs en estudio y el nivel de alineamiento estrategico negocios TI. El Cluster Minero de Chile, area de realizacion del estudio, es uno de los mas importantes del pais ya que la mineria es el sector que capta el 8% del PIB de Chile y el 46% de las exportaciones de Chile se realizan en este sector. Para testear empiricamente la validez de las proposiciones de este estudio se realizaron encuestas a las PYMEs pertenecientes al Cluster Minero de la region de Antofagasta.. El analisis de los datos recogidos en el estudio mostro la existencia de una relacion positiva entre las variables utilizadas para medir el alineamiento negocio-TI y la productividad de las PYMEs analizadas. Adicionalmente, el estudio sugiere que la relacion entre alineamiento negocio-TI esta indirectamente relacionada con la productividad a traves de factores como el tamano de la empresa, la calidad de servicio y la satisfaccion del cliente. ABSTRACT The small and medium companies are a key factor for the improvement of the competitiveness in a geographic area or country. According to Porter (1990), the improvement of the competitiveness in those companies requires of several factors among them the IT Business alignment is critical. This article is focused in the evaluation of the level of the ITBusiness Strategic alignment in a sample of SMEs that belongs to the mining cluster of the region of Antofagasta, Chile and the assessment of the relationship between productivity of the SMEs and the level of strategic IT Business alignment. The Mining Cluster of Chile, where the study took place, is one of most important of the country since the mining sector rise to 8% of the GIP of Chile and 46% of Chileans exports are in this sector. In order to test empirically the validity of the proposals of this study, SMEs in the Mining Cluster of the region of Antofagasta were interviewed. The analysis of the data gathered in the study showed the existence of a positive relation between the IT-business alignment and the productivity of these SMEs.
