- W69917350 abstract "Denitrification reactions in Green River shale gas oil during hydrogenation over a cobalt molybdate on alumina catalyst at 600/sup 0/-825/sup 0/F and 3000 psig in a stirred laboratory reactor were investigated by analyzing the types of nitrogen compounds in the liquid product by a combined nonaqueous potentiometric titration IR technique. The first step in the denitrification reaction was hydrogenation of the nitrogen-containing rings, followed by rupture of the saturated rings to form amines, and finally decomposition of the amines to ammonia. Saturated-ring rupture appeared to be rate-limiting at 600/sup 0/C, but at 825/sup 0/F the rate of hydrogenation appeared to limit the rate of denitrification. Although indole-type compounds appeared to decompose at a faster rate than quinoline-type compounds, the differences in these two rates were not as large as indicated by published data." @default.
