- W71697621 abstract "begin with a brief introduction of my church and how it came to the Balkans and to Macedonia. The Evangelical Methodist Church in Macedonia originated from the work of John Wesley (1703-91), an English priest who sought reforms in the Church of England and who founded the Methodist movement. Methodist churches were established widely. Their preachers and believers always tried to preach the gospel of Christ to the population in their native tongue--one reason why Protestantism spread so quickly. Driven by the wish of many believers in America to preach the gospel throughout the world, Protestant missionaries arrived in the first half of the nineteenth century in the Turkish empire, of which Macedonia was then a part. The Evangelical Methodist Church in Macedonia, according to its Constitution, is an independent church that sees itself as part of the wider church of Jesus Christ; together with other Christians it professes the same apostolic creed. Thus, each person can find a place in the church without regard for race, nationality, and economic status. Preaching the gospel in an understandable popular tongue, this church loves its own people, but it also loves all other people and has always tried to be close to them in good times and in bad. Its first communities in Macedonia were formed in Bansko, Pirin, in 1868, in Bitola in 1873, in Strumica in 1882, in Thessalonica, and in many other places in Macedonia. This church is also active in education and in providing social and medical care to the population. In Thessalonica it has opened a Gymnasium for boys and an agricultural school; in Bitola, a Gymnasium for girls and an orphanage. Everywhere that there is a church community, it has also provided a primary school for pupils from the first to the fourth grade. At the first Albanian congress for the creation of an alphabet, held in Bitola in 1908, the Evangelical Methodist Church in Macedonia participated with two delegates, preachers from Bitola and Korcha. This church was divided after the Balkan wars (1912-13), as was Macedonia, but it has continued to work in the three parts of Macedonia. After the proclamation of the independence of Macedonia, it was the first to register according to the new state regulations. The Evangelical Methodist Church in Macedonia has provided a multitude of intellectuals. Its approximately 6,000 believers have offered care in the various church communities across Macedonia. As a church, it was a co-founder of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, and it is the only church in the Republic of Macedonia to be a member of the Conference of European Churches. Even today, we as a church are open to cooperation with all the churches and religious communities and are prepared for sincere and honest cooperation for the good of all. I. Contribution to the Reinforcement of Mutual Trust between the Churches and Religious Communities in Macedonia The wish of every human heart is to live in peace and in good relations with the other people, but, despite this human wish, people live amid hatred, turbulence, wars, violence, and mutual destruction. This is what we see in our own surroundings, as well as more widely in the world. How can the peoples of the world be helped under such conditions? Trust, dialogue, reinforcement of mutual trust: What does all this mean? How can we understand it? With the fall of the first humans, we separated from God. Sin constantly keeps us away from God, but God always takes the initiative to find and to help us. In a strange way, God calls to Adam, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses, through whom God gave us the divine law, saying: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me (Ex. 20:2; all biblical quotes are from the New Revised Standard Version). Thus, speaking to humankind, God simply says (paraphrasing Is. …" @default.
