- W71755560 abstract "Invertebrate models for the study of aggression offer a powerful system for the analysis of a complex behavior. The detailed behavioral patterns that make up aggression in these species are innate, although they can be molded by experience. Studies are possible at levels ranging from genetic explorations of how behavioral patterns get laid down in nervous systems, through classic analyses of the behavior itself, explorations of the hormonal modulation of the behavior, identification of the circuits and individual neurons involved, and addressing questions of how the neurons and circuits are modified by winning and losing fights. In this article the focus is on several arthropod model systems in which aggression has been described in detail: the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster; and two crustaceans, crayfish and lobsters." @default.
