- W7289262 abstract "This study focused on analyzing humanization and dehumanization thatappear in the movie caused by the usage of modern technology through the pointof view of sociology.The object of the study is the movie entitled Wall-E which is directed byAndrew Stanton. This movie is an animation movie which is a hypothetical storybut it might happen. It tells about an era where humans are enslaved by themodern technology that they do not know anything but an easy life by the help oftechnology. The two major characters of the movie are robots named Wall-E andEve which are the symbols of the modern technology.This study was analyzed qualitatively as a method of finding data,analyzing data, and presenting data. The data of this study is in the form of writtenwords and pictures. There were several steps in analyzing the data. First, watchthe movie. The movie was watched several times to understand the whole contentof the story. Second, the data related to problem were listed. Third, the selecteddata were analyzed using sociological approach and from the result it can be madea binary opposition table.Results indicated that there were dehumanization practises on people’s lifein modern society that were caused by the usage of modern technology. Thesociety became selfish, unaware of others and their surrounding and left theharmonious life by ignoring the norms and mores. From the table of analysis itcan be concluded that dehumanization practises on people’s life in modern societyappeared much more than in traditional society.By analyzing Wall-E movie through the other point of view that issociology, it can be drawn conclusions that humans are the social creature whoneed others to live and to build a harmonious and mutual life." @default.
