- W75277627 abstract "Aim of this project is to examine the capability of various hybrid systems covering the electric load of a community, which is non-connected to the national grid and consists of ten residences. The area of the study is the remote region Gaidoyromantra which is located in the island of Kythnos. The houses are inhabited only during summertime, so that any requirement for heat is prerequisite. All the hybrid systems that are examined have the synergy of stocking system of batteries and are the following:•PV-Diesel Generator•PV-Fuel Cells•Wind Turbines-Diesel Generator•PV- Wind TurbinesIn Chapter 1, the RES are introduced and reported some general elements with regard to the situation in our country as well as the contribution of each source in world level.In Chapters 2, 3, 4 are presented the RES that are used in the hybrid systems. Firstly, historical reference to each source of energy and then extensive analysis of each technology are given. Finally, the present situation of each technology is analyzed in world scale as well as in Greek level.In Chapter 5 the energy production hybrid systems are introduced. In general, the reasons of hybrid systems use are analyzed as well as the present situation in Greece. Then, in Chapter 6, the Micro power Optimization Model HOMER is described extensively. This computer model presents the optimum configuration by taking for granted the Total Net Present Cost (NPC) of each system. Homer also materializes three basic operations (simulation, optimization and sensitivity analysis) which are obvious in this project.In the final stage of this project and more specifically in Chapter 7 is given the location of the study as well as the load which is going to be covered by the hybrid system. Afterwards, a description of technological elements takes place and the variables that are used by HOMER are reported too. Extensive description of each hybrid system with schematic depictions and interpretation of curves that results from the simulation follows. Finally in Chapter 8 all the results are compared together, aiming to find the optimum configuration with basic criteria the total cost of investment, the surplus of electric energy, the annual production of electric energy in KWh and the quantities of pollutant substances that are emitted in the environment. The conclusion that derives is that the future belongs to the technology of Hydrogen." @default.
