- W75722574 abstract "Most of the phenomena called states in light nuclei really are more or less broad and overlapping resonances. They should be treated in a microscopic reaction theory, but the problems involved become enormous when several channels are open. Therefore things are simplified drastically if in a quasibound approach square integrable functions are used only. Then the A-body hamiltonian can be diagonalized in order to derive observable quantities from the resulting set of eigenstates. But still there is the fundamental dilemma of using a finite model space without being able to estimate the effect of the remaining part of the total Hilbert space. Now, if we finally remember that the nuclear interaction is not yet known completely, it is not very surprising to see no full agreement between calculated quantities and those derived from experiment (assuming for the moment the analysis of experimental data itself would be free of ambiguities)." @default.
