- W75960080 abstract "The metabolism of cortisol-4-C14 has been studied at physiologic, concentrations in two dog heart-lung preparations. The first preparation survived for TOO min. and the second for 75 min. An average of 68% of the radioactivity added was recovered from the heart-lungs. An average recovery of 79% was obtained from blood specimens to which cortisol-4-C14 was added to produce a concentration similar to that in specimens from the heart-lungs. No evidence of metabolism of cortisol was seen in control blood specimens incubated 100 min. at room temperature or at 37° C. Approximately 10% of the radioactivity added to the heart-lung preparations was recovered in a fraction which appears to be 11β, 17α, 20β, 21-tetrahydroxy-Δ4-pregnenc-3-one. The remainder of the recovered radioactivity appears to be unaltered cortisol-4- C14. LIVER has the ability to degrade cortisol rapidly as demonstrated by in J vitro studies with acellular preparations (1, 2, 3, 4), liver slices (5), liver perfusions (6, 7, 8), and by in situ e..." @default.
