- W765143889 abstract "It is with great enthusiasm that I write this editorial as it--and the papers within--represents a fundamental shift in the nature and organisation of Journal of Family Studies. Since taking over from Lawrence Moloney as Editor-in-Chief at the beginning of 2014, the journal has gone from strength to strength. First, a new editorial board was appointed to better reflect the burgeoning international and interdisciplinary uptake of the journal. Second, the aims and scope were also revised to reinforce this new focus. Moving beyond the journal's previous, Australian-centric and family separation focus, each manuscript received in the last year was sent to least one non-Australian reviewer, reflecting both the increasingly international nature of the content, and the need to connect and promote the journal to a wider community of family studies scholars. These actions to reform and promote the journal have resulted in the number of submissions received greatly increasing. Whereas previously the journal typically had about 20 manuscripts under review or revision at any one time, over the last 6 months we have consistently had over 40 manuscripts in progress. With such volume, the quality of papers being accepted has also lifted, with increasingly high calibre works being showcased to our expanding international audience. But the most significant change to the journal is yet to come, and will further strengthen each of the journal-building activities undertaken to date. As of 1 January 2015, the journal will be published by the Taylor & Francis Group, after a long term with its current publisher, eContent Management Pty Ltd. The Taylor & Francis Group are one of the worlds leading publishers of scholarly journals, with over 1600 titles that span all areas of the Humanities, Social Sciences and Behavioural Sciences. These publishing strengths match those of the Journal of Family Studies and provide us with a greatly enhanced readership and profile. However, beyond the expanded marketing opportunities provided to the journal and the work therein, this issue also symbolically illustrates the journal's transition to having an international frame of reference. The first section of this issue presents four papers with data collected in such diverse countries as Portugal, Finland, Australia and the United States. These papers also span our newfound interdisciplinary range, covering such topics as parental involvement and child problem behaviour, family harmony and wellbeing, child support compliance, and relationships between parenting style and perception of the marital relationship, respectively. …" @default.
