- W76667870 abstract "Eastwood was invited to exhibit at the award winning Ropewalk contemporary art centre, Humberside. Support for the production of new work, and a catalogue, was provided by the gallery via funding from Arts Council England. The resulting six-week exhibition consisted of 35 wall-based pieces varying in size form 30cm X 30cm to 3m X 2m. The work consisted of collages, paintings, and prints. The exhibited work was an exploration of the fluidity and impermanence of globalisation and western consumer culture. Commercially produced print material is detached from its original context and through considered placement within a new visual arena invested with playfully ambiguous additional meaning(s). The reconfigurations encourage a dialogue with the audience in a visual language reminiscent of contemporary mass-produced advertising imagery. However, the original messages of consumption intend subversion. The catalogue for the exhibition was an A2 poster featuring the mock advertising strap-line, ‘Positive Thoughts’. The artist used the mass production and distribution of the catalogue to employ the guerrilla graphics techniques of the ‘culture jammer’.
