- W76922264 abstract "The recent experimental total cross-section measurements for e+-K scattering (Stein et al. 1985) have provided a stimulus to obtain reliable theoretical results for low-energy positron scattering by the alkali atoms. The fact that for positron scattering from these atoms, the rearrangement channel, namely positronium formation, is open right down to zero energy provides an additional reason to consider this class of atoms. With previously studied systems, for instance positron scattering by hydrogen or the inert gases, this threshold becomes open only at a finite non-zero energy. It should be interesting to examine the effect of this anomalous theshold on low-energy scattering." @default.
