- W772220972 abstract "Cutaneous lymphomas are a heterogeneous group, characterized by a clonal accumulation of lymphocytes in the skin. These disorders can be originated from any level of differentiation between stem cell to lymphocytes B or T. It is important to make a review of them since for a long time the diagnosis, classification and treatment was considered confusing for the dermatologist. The purpose of this article is to make an updated review of the topic. In Mexico there are not statistical data of its epidemiology. The etiology and the exact steps in the pathogenesis are not well understood; therefore, it is more reasonable to assume that this disease represents the end of several different processes. The factors that must be considered in the etiology of the cutaneous lymphomas are: 1. Genetic factors including chromosomic abnormalities 2. Environmental and infectious factors 3. Immunologic factors The classification, which has been specifically designed for the cutaneous lymphomas, is the EORTC. Its advantage is that it contains only well defined and recognizable diseases and that it provides vital information regarding their management, treatment, and prognosis. This classification is very useful for the pathologist as it can establish a clinical-pathological correlation from the obtained information to make a definitive diagnosis." @default.
