- W7768694 abstract "Publisher Summary The occurrence of polyadenylate in many eukaryotic mRNAs has proved a useful handle for isolating various messages from total cellular RNA by molecular hybridization of this poly (A) stretch to poly (U) or poly (dT) molecules covalently linked to sepharose or cellulose. The poly (A) segment of eukaryotic messenger RNAs ensures their stability in the cytoplasm during translation. To fulfill its stabilizing role, poly (A) sequence needs to have a minimal length. The 3'-OH polyadenylation of RNA4 of Alfalfa Mosaic Virus, which codes for the coat protein, does not increase the stability of the message when injected into frog oocytes. The mRNA stabilizing mechanisms other than the poly (A)-associated one might exist in eukaryotic organisms." @default.
