- W77875258 abstract "Ascorbic acid exchange in organisms of guinea pigs subjected to single total x-irradiation in a dose of 600 r was studied. The ascorbic acid content was determined in a number of internal organs and whole blood. An assessment was also made of the absorption capacity of proteins as an index of ascorbic acid saturation of organisms. A decreased level of ascorbic acid in the brain, adrenals, testes, spleen, small intestine, and whole blood was observed. Ascorbic acid absorption by blood proteins increases after irradiation as a result of reduced saturation of the organism. The data testify to the elevated requirement of ascorbic acid during the action of radiation. (auth)" @default.
